Glengarriff Junior footballers defeated their counterparts from Castletownbere in the Semi-Final of the Beara Junior 'A' Football Championship which was played in Adrigole, on Sunday, August 8th last. Aided by a stiff breeze, Glengarriff were clearly dominant in the opening thirty minutes and had six points from play and a converted free before Castletownbere registered their opening and only score of the first half.

From the off the Glen were to the fore with Peter Murphy kicking three points, Donal O'Sullivan with two and both Matthew O'Shea and Kevin O'Sullivan with one each to build up a good lead. Cork minor star, Matthew O'Shea had the last two points of the half to have Glengarriff leading 0-09 to 0-01 after thirty minutes.

If the first half was all about Glengarriff then the second was clearly about Castletownbere as they reeled off four points in a row to narrow the margin to three. Donal O'Sullivan kicked a Glengarriff point but the Town again answered with four more to leave one between the sides and little over five minutes left. A converted James Horgan free steadied the ship and when Johnny Galvin kicked over a like score, the Glen were three ahead and winners by 0-12 to 0-09.
